The Exquisite World of Saris - The Bengali Drape!

Derived from the Sanksrit word ‘sadi’, meaning strip of cloth, the sari has been a garment that has captured our imagination – since, well, forever! Timeless and elegant, the sari is such a versatile garment that a nip here, and a tuck there, would create a whole new silhouette and look – what a great idea for fashionistas!

The JADE Saree is all about grace and how you style it! In our new series on Saris, we set out to explore the different styles of draping saris that stand out.

A perfectly draped Sari is bound to make you the cynosure of all eyes. The diverse landscapes govern the fabrics, designs and uniqueness. Global acceptance has grown, garnering appreciation, from fashion icon Victoria Beckham gracing the cover of fashion magazines and Gisele Bundchen to the Pussy Cat Dolls dressed and draped in saris, to Maharani Gayatri Devi in the French chiffon to Vidya balan raising the bar for the desirability of the sari.

The Bengali Style of Draping may, perhaps, be the most popular, because of the myriad ways it can be styled. A traditional sari in strong shades can be draped in a traditional manner. Paired with a classic gold blouse,the result would be quite regal and pleasing to the eye!

For a chic soiree, a tightly draped sari would look unconventional and unique! Pair it with a broad belt around the waist, and the silhouette created will be nothing short of breathtaking!

One of the great ways we keep up the energy and great vibe at the store is through some of our most loved, happy and always on the loop playlists we have running. It keeps us smiling and the customers entertained.

Bonobo is a British musician whose chilled out, soulful yet foot tapping sounds can brighten up the dullest day!

John Mayer needs no introduction but there's something about his voice that just immediately puts a smile on our faces, it must be all the love:)

And then there's the surf inspired, particularly relaxing music of the American musician and folk rock singer, Jack Johnson. We love to hum to his gentle guitar strings while going about our day.

It's That Time of the Year:)

It's our favorite time of the year! Yes, that's right, it's wedding season. The time of the year, expectant brides to be, moms and siblings come and share their most desired looks at our store. And we, always aim to please! There's a constant flurry of patterns, colors, sizes, designs and the dressing rooms become the final frontier to achieving that perfect look accompanied by the "Oh this is just what I wanted" smile.

JADE Saree Festival was a success!

We sold out 80% of the offerings from our Annual JADE Saree Festival on the first day of the event itself! It was a fantastic success and love our customers dearly for their enthusiasm and interest in this brand.

Onwards to so many new plans and events. Starting with a brand new, shiny JADE store in Mumbai. We'll keep you posted!

The JADE Saree Festival 2012/13

The Annual JADE Saree Festival will be held on October 26 and 27 to launch the JADE Cocktail Saree Collection 2012/13. On showcase from October 26 onwards will be a wide range of modern, chic and elegant cocktail sarees designed to lend an air of elegance and romance to your special soirées.

French chiffons, silks, laces and tulle have been used in the collection and the colour palette is decidedly young/pop along with sophisticated evening colours like midnight blue. Special attention has been paid in this collection to the detailing and cut of the blouse that accompanies each saree. Embroidery detailing is kept to a minimum allowing the JADE cocktail sarees to flow gracefully. Saree draping workshops will be held to explain the nuances of a variety of saree drapes and there will also be a saree draper at the JADE store on both days of the festival. For those who want to don a saree on the go, there will be a variety of pre pleated saree options.
